Leo lives with their chosen queer family in Wigan. They are estranged from their family in Sheffield since silently suffering at the hands of the Bastard (step-father).
After years of declining health and spiraling suicidal daydreams, Leo opts to live free from the burden of secrecy by telling Martha, their mother, the truth about the Bastard’s abuse.
Leo knows that Martha lives in blissful suburban denial - house errands, school pick ups, dog walks - with financial stability to provide for her young autistic son and a newly born grandchild - thanks to her ‘perfect’ husband - the Bastard.
They also know it won’t be easy for Martha to give that up. They will need to bring it home to her: choose me today or you lose me forever.
This story is based on Ashleigh Laurence’s own experiences and struggles. It’s a story for survivors, mothers and daughters, and anyone ready to let go of hidden truths that control their life.

PRESS & REVIEWS
“It is very rare in theatre to see something that feels new, but Ashleigh Laurence’s work is fresh, raw and unapologetic. She asks the questions we are too afraid to ask and does so with heart, laughter and humility. A stand out performer, a true creative mind.”
- Fran Bushe, award winning Writer, Comedian, Author “My Broken Vagina”
